It is also possible for a kitten to become hoarse from doing too much meowing! Just like a person can become hoarse the next morning, from screaming at a ballgame, a kitten who has done a lot of meowing in a short time or a puppy who does a lot of barking, etc in a short time, can make themselves hoarse for a few days.

If your kitten's temperature is normal and she eats and drinks normally and eliminates normally, and if she's not showing any other signs of problems, you probably can just wait a few days and she will be fine. If she shows any other signs of something being wrong, then she should be checked by a vet.
Open her mouth and look at the back of the throat and see if it very red. Go to a store that would have a digital thermometer that can be used rectally and place a little Vaseline on the end and take its temp. the temp should be around 100 degrees but anything higher than 101 to 102 is defiantly fever and the cat should go immediately to the vet. I don't think cats can really get soar throats though. but nothing that goes unnoticed can't cause problems later!!
Mines 14 months and doesn't Meow! When I call her name, she says, Huh? like a human. Be patient, eventually if she hears sounds on a tape or record with a cat meowing, she will catch on. Good luck!
