has anyone seen the new cat thats out? oh my the are sooo cute they are called a toyger it's a toy tiger as a house pet, it's a cat that looks like a tiger i was wondering if anyone would know how much they cost??

Hi there.There are a handful of Toyger breeders in the world. They are beautiful up close and their temperament is similar to a Bengal cat: dog like, very affectionate, not a lap cat though. They are very spendy (between $2000-$5000) because of the difficulties to breed in the specific traits which are highly sought after.

I think they are adorable (they aren't much different than Bengals), but they make me very sad. With 2-5 million animals being killed in shelters each year, these designer animals selling for thousands of dollars so that people can have a status symbol are such a shame. I just don't consider anything with life disposable or a status symbol.
To me, rescuing a tabby or a Bengal that needs a home is the way to get that 'wild' look in the home.
Nothing at toyger.com. There are Bengal house cats that look kinda like a cross between tigers and leopards.

You know, I have seen many cats that look just like that come from ordinary litters in the shelter. They will probably end up like the other "fad" cat breeds and go nowhere. Not many people are willing to pay hundreds for a cat just because it is marked special.
Why don't you e-mail a breeder and see what they cost!!
