Was my kitten's deworming ineffective?

This morning my girlfriend and I were playing with our 10 week old kitten and he rubbed his rear against my arm and left a small worm on me. The worm was about 2cm long, and a light yellow color. I have read several questions %26 answers dealing with this sort of thing, and I haven't seen anything dealing with this sort of worm identification.

We got him dewormed with Strongid, and he had a vet visit 2 days ago where he got an application of Revolution. But, I am pretty sure that this was not a tapeworm, since it was completely round and it moved a lot (like a really tiny whitish earthworm).

Since he had a dewormer a week ago, and the Revolution 2 days ago, does this mean that the worms are being worked out of his system; or were they ineffective, which is why that one worm came out alive?
Answers:
you are desribing a Tapeworm and if infested with many yes it will take a few days.the worm will almost look like rice ,will come from the rear and sometimes you will find them crawling out instead of just in the stool.you must also control fleas because this worm comes from the fleas they injest.it is possible that a second dose might be needed but,it is definity a tapeworm.
it was a roundworm. If you just had kitty dewormed expect to see more in his stool.

It's really nasty. But inevitable I'm afraid.
rats leaving the ship
better get used to it
well.if he is an out door kittie then may be a worm clung to his but when he was outside and then came off on you later? Or may be you have an infestation inside your home?
wormer caused, which is good, but you may want to get more wormer for this kitty..generally 3 days worth if there is still worms coming out, they have eggs that will reproduce in kitty..
If a vet prescribed the medication and dosage after identifying the worms from a stool sample all will be well. If you did this on your own using over the counter stuff it may not have been the right treatment for the particular type of parasitic infestation or the medicine was "off label" and one that vets no longer use because it has proved ineffective.

If you are going to put poisons into your cat, you want to do it once and have it work. The vet is the best choice with this problem.
Double check with your vet to let them know that he is still having active parasites in his stool. Had to use strongid for 4 weeks along with the revolution to kill off an infestation in a group of foster kittens, like another said the eggs can hatch and still infest the kitten(s). also make sure you are cleaning the box FREQUENTLY as in 2-3 times a day. If any of the parasites are active in the stool, when kitten uses the box, if any get on his paws, and he then cleans his paws, BANG INSTANT RE-INFESTATION. Just mostly call the vet to see if there is any other action you need to take to get rid of the parasites, and make sure to follow through with a monthly preventative.
