Was it wrong of me to yell at my cat?

I was in a bad mood. And my cat was sitting across the room, and I just started yelling at her and calling her filthy names. I did that for a few minutes. But now I feel bad about it. Should I just apoligize?
Answers:
yes apologize. your cat has feelings
Maybe thats why it ran off..

previous question..
Pets know when your upset / happy/angry. You didn't mean it but a pet can't understand words. If you feel bad about it you might consider giving your cat a treat or petting it a bit more. Pets more pick up on vibes so if you treat your cat like you feel bad about it it will pick up on that.
Absolutely!

But see a shrink first!
Let it go, animals don't understand what your saying they understand mood, if you stay all uoset over it the cat will just feel weird about your mood.
Did she run away or just sit there? If she just sat there then she was probably ignoring you. Either way, you should definately appologize and give her some loving.
wtf!! its a cat just feed it its all over lol it doesnt have feelings its not human :D
I think that you should probably reassure your cat by taking some time out of your day and play with her. this way she will know that you aren't mad at her.

Remember this in the future: Cats are very theraputic, people who own cats generally experience lower stress levels, lower blood pressure, and less health issues that those without cats or without any pets at all. Next time, instead of venting all your frustrations to your cat and yelling, try sitting down and just petting her. Hell, even just tell her how things are. You'd be surprised at how perceptive and responsive cats can be :-)
Better idea would be to get into an anger management program, or see a shrink.
No need. cats have a way of making you feel uber guilty after a bout of anger. she will just treat you with disdain and ignore you for a couple of days. and then go back to being her usual kitty self. You probably should ask yourself why you took your anger out on your cat. is it cuz she is "safe" and you know she won't judge you? Ahh.. but cats are VERY judgemental (grin). and she will probably poop in your shoes sometime this weekend.
Probably the same size of brain capacity!
Be nice to your cat. try to catch yourself next time you start to yell at her.

Yelling at a cat that isn't bothering you is a sign, you are under stress, if you don't know what's bothering you please seek counseling.
This is why cats sometimes have behavioral problems. She's probably wondering what in the hell she did wrong! You need therapy!
That was sooo mean of you!!
Yes. You should.
Hey everyone gets in a bad mood I am sure you didn't mean to yell at your cat. If it makes you feel better you can apologize. Pets are almost human they have human feelings.
YES! You should! Cats have very sensitive minds and you can really hurt them by doing that! That was soooooooo rude of you! i can't believe that you just called her/him for noooooo reason! APOLOGIZE!
Yes. You should apologize. That poor cat did nothing to you. I would gladly take her off of your hands.
Yes it was bad. That was bad because she didn't do anything.
Yes, it was wrong. apologize.
Apologize and then make yourself an appointment with a therapist.
