The mother cat of my kittten always attacks her two kittens?

It's not hard enough to hurt them in any harmfulw ay but she growls and gets mad and sometimes scratches them..why does she do this jt doesnt make since for her to attack them for getting near them they use the litter box and eat solid food now..
Answers:
how old are the kittens? Maybe they're old enough to leave the mother's side and she's trying to get them to be more independent or grow up.
I believe she is teaching her kittens how to get along in the outside world. Cats are very good mothers at teaching their off-spring life skills.
Mamma thinks it is time for Junior to get self-sufficient. It's nature's way.
She may be trying to ween them but some mother animals lack the mothering instinct and refuse to accept the babies as their own, Do you pick up the kittens alot? Sometimes if the the mother cat can not smell her scent on the kitten she will abandon them. But it really sounds like she might be trying to ween them. if they are eating fine and using the litter box just try to keep them away from her. Good Luck
