"scourge" in old English sailing ships, the "cat" was the cat-o-nine-tails.when they men were whipped they were "scourged". In the book by Patrick O'Brian, Master %26 Commander (also a movie.very good one by the way) the ships cat was named scourge as a joke.the cat also belonged to the master, who dealt out punishment.the crew thought that as being very funny.

I have a German Shepherd named Max. That would be cute. I had a Maine Coon named Bud-Ha because he would sit like a budda when he cleaned his belly. He was an awesome cat. He use to do sommersaults and lay on his back so people would scratch his stomach. Good Luck!
