special scratching spot?

Okay, so i was on my bed with my two cats, who hate each other, and i started scratching the one who never purs or is super happy on the back of his neck, and he starts purring and is really calm! Then i do it on the back of my other cats neck, and she stops rolling around and gets really calm! Can anyone explain this?
Answers:
Well, they obviously enjoy it! I'm not sure that the back of the neck is a "special" spot but it would be where the mother cat would take hold to transport her kitten. It might have nerves that react to gentle massage or even release a soothing hormone? My cat is the same way! :)
Every cat has a calm scratching spot which is located from behind their neck to their upper head.
Yeah. Lots of cats love to be scratched between their ears or on their neck.
ANYWHERE THAT IS PURRRFECT FOR THEM
THEY ARE CATS NOT MACHINES-- THEY EACH REACT DIFFIDENTLY TO THE SAME STIMULI
She likes the attention.
