Something wrong with my kitten?

Ever since I got him when he was about 6 weeks old, he's been eating a lot (like 5 cans of Fancy Feast every day) and goes to the bathroom after each meal, which is almost always diarrhea. He's now about 7 months old.

Today he had gray diarrhea with some blood in it. Another kitty I had (now deceased) had worms so I treated both of them (even though this one never had any visible worms in his stool) with medicine.

So should I be worried that he keeps having diarrhea and is always hungry? After I dewormed him, he did grow twice as big as he was and the "pot belly" dissapeared.

He's also never had any shots since I got him. He's neutered.
Answers:
there is no way your kitten should eat that much canned.. fancy feast is crap food as it is so 5 cans is terrible.

I hope he is getting dry food. the canned will rot his teeth. cats should only have 1 teaspoon of canned a day (despite what the can wants you to beleive.) more is bad for their teeth and certainly contributes to diarrhea.

get a dry food with CHICKEN MEAL or TURKEY MEAL or LAMB MEAL as the first ingredient = these are the gentlest on the tummy.. no by-products (beaks feet feathers)

if he goes outside get him vaccinated.
it wouldnt hurt for a vet to do a stool sample for other kinds of worms that your dewormer wouldnt have killed or bacteria.

he is always hungry because Fancy Feast (and infact ANY Foods from grocery store or Wal Mart) are CRAP CRAP CRAP loaded with filler.
I believe I would contact his vet and tell them what he is doing it may be a good ideal to take him to a vet..It could be nothing but then again it may be something bad ..I wouldn't take the chance of something happening to him..If you really love this cat you will do the right thing..Hope he is alright..
Take him to the VET! Why are you not being a responsible pet owner. Of course there is something wrnog with your kitten if it has bloody diarrhea. Would there be something wrong with you if you had bloody diarrhea?

Worm medicine from a grocery or pet store doesnt work. Take him to the vet so they can give him worm med there. They usually have to worm them more than once to get rid of them!

Also, you should be feeding him KITTEN food. Not food that is better for adult cats. Dry Kitten food is gentle on their stomach.
Try purina kitten chow..I'm getting more and more frustrated.

Even if worms are not the problem, something else obviously is. Just take him to the vet. Stop looking for answers here where people can give you advice that is anything but professional.
I know that certian kinds of food can give cats diarrhea, like Friskies. My cat eats 9 Lives, with the cuts of meat for breakfast, and then dry food throughout the day.
YES THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG GET HIM TO THE VET YESTERDAY!! first off, you're not feeding him solid food. and the story that he won't eat it won't fly. you're destroying his dental health. it is possible that your cat still has worms, just because you can't see them. get a stool sample, and take it to the vet with you to have it tested. also, they can test for other things, like irritable bowel disease. my cat has this, and it was a NIGHTMARE getting him over it. also, pot belly isn't necessarily a sign that he doesn't have worms. it may take more than one treatment, or stronger treatments, if he still has them. not to mention the fact that it takes MORE THAN ONE treatment to sufficiently take care of the problem. your initial worming was to kill the worms themselves. you needed to do it again 2 weeks later to kill any eggs that are still in his system. also, the fact that he's not vaccinated, diarrhea could be symptomatic of a number of feline related diseases. hurry go NOW!!
I think a visit to the vet is definitely in order. You might try feeding him a dry cat food, in addition to the fancy feast. It would probably help with the diarrhea. Make sure that you give him fresh water daily and clean the water bowl regularly. Also check and make sure that any houseplants that you have are not poisonous to cats. The first thing I would do is take him to the vet. Good luck.
5 cans of Fancy Feast? Wow. He should NOT be eating that much canned food. Switch to hard food especially formulated for kittens and make sure he has been getting enough water.

Fancy Feast and other canned foods are made for adult cats and in small amounts at that.
I have two cats that did the same and all I fed them was fancy feast! Its only a kitten feed it dry food!! and give him a can of fancy feast as a treat or once a day for dinner! Thats what I do and now my kittens are no longer having diarrhea! Hope it helps u! None of my kittens have shots either but the pot belly mostly on kittens are because of worms thank god that went away! My cat that I had for 12 years all she ate was fancy feast everyday 3 times! I realized that the soft food doesnt have everything the dry food has! Good Luck!
Your kitty is getting way too much canned food. He should eat mostly dry cat food.
YES! YOU SHOULD BE WORRIED. IF YOU DON'T GET HIM TAKEN CARE OF SOON HE COULD BECOME SERIOUSLY ILL OR DIE. ANIMALS CAN BE SICK FOR ONLY SO LONG. WORMS DON'T ALWAYS SHOW UP AND THERE COULD BE ANY OF A MILLION THINGS WRONG. BOTH MY CATS HAD SIMILAR SYMPTOMS, ONE HAD A TUMOR AND ONE HAD FELINE LEUKEMIA WHICH IS CONTAGIOUS AND FINALLY GOT HIM AS I DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT THEN. THERE ARE SHOTS YOU CAN GET TO PROTECT HIM AND YOURSELF FROM DISEASES. YOUR CAT COULD HAVE ANYTHING. MY CAT ATE MEOW MIX AND LIVED FOR 16 YEARS, NEVER HAD A BITE OF CANNED FEED. YOU'RE SO MUCH BETTER OFF SEEING A VET AND GETTING YOUR KITTY VACCINATED AND KEPT SAFE. THEY'RE WORTH EVERY CENT IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET AND WANT TO KEEP YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD SAFE FROM SICKNESS AND DISEASE THAT CAN SPREAD. HOPE HE GETS BETTER!
Fancy Feast IS crap, but the bit about soft food rotting his teeth is a bunch of bullsh*t. Hard food bears no positive benefits for a cat's teeth since cat teeth are not designed to mash. They are designed to tear and shred. Sometimes, large chunks of dry food can get stuck in between the teeth, becoming acidic and forming plaque. To top it off, most dry cat food shatters as soon as a cat bites down..and has next-to-no abrasive affect on the teeth.

That being said, some hard food might help harden up the stool a bit.

But I'm more concerned about the color and intensity of his poop. First off, he's eating too much.gorging himself, really NO cat should eat that much in a day (I have a 14lb. tom that I feed ONE cat of food a day).

Why hasn't the kitten has his shots yet? That is just irresponsible, cats should be started on shots at 6-8 weeks of age. He's 5 months away from being an adult, and now he's sick..and you wonder why? He's never been to a vet, I take it? *Sigh*

Take him to the vet, shell out your hard-earned money to get him the care he DESERVES, then use some more of that hard-earned money to pick up a book on cats (Cats for Dummies is a great reference book).
Try feeding him dry food, kitties system might be better on dry food. Take kitty to the vet he may need an antibioltic. He needs his shots anyways! Good luck!
Sweetheart, he has worms that won't go away. It could be a tape worm, they are resistant to over the counter meds. Take him to a vet before he dehydrates on you.
No wonder you cat has diarrhea and blood in his stool. You are feeding him way too much. A kitten should only eat one can a day..meaning half in the morning and half in the evening. You should be feeding your kitten dry food as well. I have 2 cats (5 years old and 1 year old) and they both eat dry food during the day (I just but some in a bowl and they eat it throughout the day while I'm at work) and then when I get home I feed them one can food each. There is no reason your kitten should be eating that much.your going to end up killing your kitten. Also make sure your kitten is drinking enough water. Also if your kitten still has diarrhea, you might think about taking him/her to the vet. I hope this information is helpful enough.
Please don't listen to the ignoramus who said you should feed a cat dry food!

Any wet food is better than dry, but Fancy Feast isn't a very good quality food. In fact, it kinda sucks. Most flavors have a lot of grains and by-products.

Your kitty may have a sensitive digestive tract that requires high quality food. Most cats can get by on fairly crappy food, though they'll live longer and healthier on the good stuff. Some cats really need the good stuff and can't do well on anything less.

Here, read this and you'll know more about feline nutrition than most vets! And you'll learn how to tell if food is kitty's problem, and what to do about it:
